This summary was prepared by the Office of the Auditor General of Canada for the "Environmental Auditing Network (Canada)." The network is an informal group comprised of legislative audit offices and internal audit and municipal auditors from across Canada. The network's purpose is to advance environmental auditing. The network began in November 2005 at a symposium on "Environmental Auditing: Fostering Sustainable Development through Good Governance and Accountability" sponsored by the Canadian Comprehensive Auditing Foundation. The event was held in Toronto and hosted by the Auditor General of Ontario.
