Media Advisory—The Auditor General will release 2 audit reports related to COVID‑19—Wednesday, 26 May 2021
Ottawa, 12 May 2021—On Wednesday 26 May 2021, Karen Hogan, Auditor General of Canada, will deliver 2 performance audit reports to the House of Commons: Report 10—Securing Personal Protective Equipment and Medical Devices, and Report 11—Pandemic Support to Indigenous Communities—Indigenous Services Canada. Tabling is expected at approximately 2:00 pm (eastern daylight timeEDT). Descriptions of the reports are provided below.
The 2021 Reports of the Auditor General of Canada included in this release are:
Report 10—Securing Personal Protective Equipment and Medical Devices. The audit focused on whether the Public Health Agency of Canada and Health Canada, before and during the COVID‑19 pandemic, helped to meet the needs of provincial and territorial governments for selected Personal Protective EquipmentPPE (N95 masks and medical gowns) and medical devices (testing swabs and ventilators). The audit also focused on whether Public Services and Procurement Canada provided adequate procurement support to the Public Health Agency of Canada.
Report 11—Pandemic Support to Indigenous Communities—Indigenous Services Canada. This audit focused on whether Indigenous Services Canada provided sufficient personal protective equipment, nurses, and paramedics to Indigenous communities and organizations in a co‑ordinated and timely manner in order to protect Indigenous peoples against COVID‑19.
