Section 1: Institutional gender-based analysisGBA Plus Capacity

In 2020–2021, an executive-level employee was selected to act as Executive Sponsor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Champion of Sustainable Development Goals and Gender-Based Analysis plus. The Executive Sponsor ensures that the Sustainable Development Goals and Gender-Based Analysis Plus are factored into the work of the Office of the Auditor General of CanadaOAG and acts as a liaison to the Executive Committee on matters related to diversity and to inclusion.

Specifically, the office is committed to ensuring that gender-based analysis plus (GBA+) considerations are integrated into our financial and performance audit work, so that we can provide elected officials and all Canadians objective information on the government's progress on its equity, diversity and inclusion priority. This work is supported by a refined audit methodology and increased awareness and knowledge of our audit professionals. Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of who we are and what we do, across the office.

Our audit reports benefit Canadians of all backgrounds. A number of our performance audit reports have directly and indirectly examined government activities that touch various identity factors that intersect to make us who we are, such as age, gender identity, sexual orientation, origin, ethnicity, social status, economic status, family status, health characteristics, et ceteraetc. The recommendations from those reports can lead to better outcomes for Canadian women, men and gender-diverse people of all demographics.

Other: In 2020–21, the curriculum for training courses for our employees was modified to incorporate elements on diversity, employment equity, gender-based analysis plus, Indigenous issues, creating a respectful workplace, understanding and overcoming unconscious bias, and workplace accommodations.
